What Causes Chronic Pain?
When the body is injured, pain lets us know that something is wrong and needs to be fixed. Usually, the pain subsides as the body repairs itself and returns to normal.
Sometimes, an injury can result in residual pain or an issue that causes damage that doesn’t heal on its own. For example, many back injuries can be so devastating that discs are ruptured and nerves are damaged. Even with corrective surgery, the damaged nerve may not heal completely. (Most commonly, this is the sciatic nerve.)

The most common reason people see the chiropractor is when their spinal vertebrae become misaligned. This can happen due to blunt trauma, an accident, or even a fall. Misalignments cause muscles to have to work harder to compensate for the offset weight on the back, maybe even pinching nerves in the process. By realigning the spine, this will reduce the strain on the muscles and relieve pinched nerves and discs.
Physical/Massage Therapy
Tension can build in the back, shoulders, and neck. Physically working out those muscles helps release the tension and the toxins that build from the tension.
Steroid Injection
Steroids act on irritated muscles or nerves to reduce swelling (and pressure) on the area. This promotes recovery and pain relief.
